Why we print the whole list

Every bottle in this shop prints its full ingredient list, in the proper international names, with the plain word beside each one. The Rose Mist's list is one line. The longest in the shop is nine.

We are not required to do the plain word. The law asks for the proper names, which are the ones nobody can read, and most brands stop there and put the friendly version in the marketing instead. That gap is where a lot of skincare lives: a label that is technically complete and practically unreadable, next to a claim that is readable and technically meaningless.

The list is the argument

A small house cannot outspend anybody. What it can do is be checkable. If the label says the base is cold-pressed almond oil from Aley and names the four things after it, then either that is true or it is a lie you can catch. We would rather be catchable than impressive.

It also disciplines the making. It is easy to add one more thing to a formula when nobody will read the list. It is much harder when the list is on the front of the bottle and a customer can count it.

And the things that are not in it

The product pages carry a second list: what is not in there. No fragrance added, no essential oil for the smell of it, no synthetic colour, no claim of a clinical result. That last one is not modesty. We have not run a clinical trial, so we cannot say we have, and a shop this size that tells you it has is telling you something else about itself.
