What is in it

Rose from the Bekaa, almond from Aley, olive from Koura.

Water, sweet almond oil, olive oil, rose water, shea butter, glycerin, ceramides, vitamin E.

  1. Aquawater

    Water. It is first on a list because there is more of it than anything else, which is true of almost every cream ever made.

  2. Prunus amygdalus dulcis oilsweet almond, Aley

    A soft, unfussy oil pressed from almonds grown on the terraces above Aley. It sits on the skin rather than sinking straight through it, which is why it is the base of eleven of the twelve.

  3. Olea europaea fruit oilolive, Koura

    First press, from Koura. Heavier than almond and used only where the skin is being asked to hold water overnight.

  4. Rosa damascena flower waterDamask rose, the Bekaa

    Picked before eight in the morning and distilled the same day, because after that the oil in the petal is gone. One ingredient, and the only one in the Rose Mist.

  5. Butyrospermum parkii buttershea

    A thick butter from the shea nut. Rich enough that a little is plenty.

  6. Glycerinvegetable

    Glycerin, from plants. It pulls water out of the air and holds it against the skin. One of the two or three things in skincare that simply works.

  7. Cetearyl alcohola fatty alcohol, not drying

    Cetearyl alcohol. It shares a word with the alcohol that dries skin out and behaves like the opposite: it is what gives a cream its body.

  8. Tocopherolvitamin E

    Tocopherol. It keeps the oils in the bottle from turning, and it is good for the skin while it is doing that.

  9. Sodium benzoate, potassium sorbateto keep it

    Sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. Anything with water in it grows things without a preservative, and a mouldy cream is worse for your skin than any preservative ever was.

And what is not in it

  • No fragrance added. What you smell is the rose, the orange blossom or the laurel.
  • No essential oils used as perfume.
  • No alcohol denat.
  • No silicones.
  • No claim that any of this is clinically proven, because none of it has been through a clinical trial.
