For the gel and the tonic
Akkar is the far north, the poorest governorate in the country and the one with the best laurel. The berry is pressed in December for an oil that is dark green, smells like a bathhouse and has been the base of soap on this coast for about a thousand years.
We use it in the Morning Gel and in the Laurel Tonic. Both are washes, which is where laurel belongs: it is a cleaning plant, not a cream plant, and putting it in a night cream would be a marketing decision.
Customers over fifty tend to recognise the smell before they read the label. That is the point of it.
